Scala is one of the most unique theatres in Amsterdam. Driven by passion rather than profit, we provide young artists with a special place to develop their talent, while offering our guests a memorable night out. A lot happens during an evening at Scala: visitors experience multiple short performances in our intimate basement theatres, and enjoy small dishes and drinks in our food bar before, during, and after the shows. To ensure our guests get the most out of their evening — and to allow our artists to fully focus on their performances — we are looking for VOLUNTEER FRONT-OF-HOUSE HOSTS!

 

As a host, you make sure all shows start on time and that every visitor finds their seat in the right room. You check tickets, guide guests to the different theatres, and explain important house rules. You're also a key point of contact for the artists performing with us: you prepare the room, offer them a glass of water, and ensure they can get ready in peace.

At Scala, our Front-of-House Hosts play an important role in creating personal connections with our audience. You are the friendly face and listening ear. We’re looking to expand our team with people who would like to support Scala as volunteers — and in doing so, help dozens of talented theatre makers thrive.

 

what do we ask from you?

• You have a passion for theatre;

• You have a good command of English;

• You're welcoming and enjoy informing and enthusing people;

• You're proactive, communicative, work well independently, but also enjoy being part of a team;

• You're willing to roll up your sleeves when needed;

• You’re available at least two evenings a month (shifts are from 18:30 to 22:00).
